Senior moments

Facing up to that senior moment

I've had near misses with flights before - I've gone to the wrong airport and forgotten to take my passport - but I've never missed a flight by a whole day! My PC diary said Sunday at 1.45pm, the ticket said Saturday. No wonder I couldn't check in online - the flight had long departed.

One of the disadvantages of age is not so much forgetfulness, it's complacency. I didn't forget when the flight was, I just didn't check what it said in my diary. And I didn't take any care because I thought I was too experienced a traveller to have to bother.

The morale is, if you're flying half way across the world and you haven't got an open ticket, you take care, lots of it. Lesson learned. The price I have to pay is not only in cash, it's that I have to travel out the day before I travel back and I get to see hardly anything of San Francisco, San Jose and DevLearn. Huh!
